Harriett J. Hartman, age 88, of Richmond, died Monday (May 21, 2007) in Golden Rule-Beverly Healthcare.� She was born in Wayne County on June 28, 1918 to Walter and Gertrude Fouts Kitchel and had lived in the Boston, Indiana area all of her life.� She graduated from Boston High School in 1936 and attended Ball State University.� She was a homemaker and had worked as a substitute teacher.� Harriett was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and had been a member of the 20 Club, the Elkhorn Club, was active in Farm Bureau work and had served as a Township Women's Leader.� She had worked with her husband for 60 years in operating the family dairy farm.� She had also been active in the Dairy Herd Improvement Association and had served as a mother figure to several welfare children.� Her husband of 61 years, Harold J. Hartman, died in 1999.

Survivors include her daughter - Carole (Marvin) Robbins of Richmond;
Son - Gene Griffith of Richmond;
9 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces & Nephews.

Three brothers, Earl, Marion & James Kitchel, and a nephew, Jerry Kitchel, are also deceased.

Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday (May 24, 2007) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary.� Rev. Manfred Schreyer will officiate.� Burial will be in Lutherania Cemetery.� Friends may call on Thursday (May 24, 2007) from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the funeral home.� Memorial contributions may be made to the Boston United Methodist Church, 211 West Main St., Boston, IN 47324.
