Helen L. Holthouse, age 96, of Richmond, died Tuesday (March 2, 2004) at Friends Fellowship Community. She was born in New Madison, Ohio on April 30, 1907, to William L. and Elvira Jane Thompson Thomas and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a graduate of New Madison High School and a 1928 graduate of Earlham College. She taught school in Ohio and Indiana. She was a past president of the Richmond Women's Club and had served two terms as president of the Richmond Garden Club. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Wayne County Mental Health Association for many years and had served as a volunteer at the Richmond State Hospital for 30 years. She was a member of Saint Andrew Church. Her husband, G. Howard Holthouse, died on September 19, 1993.

Kathleen (husband John) Kutter of Richmond
Sons - Thomas (wife Joy) Holthouse of Richmond
Ronald (wife Regina) Holthouse of Richmond

A sister and six brothers are also deceased.
A prayer service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday (March 6, 2004) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Saint Andrew Church. Burial will be in Saint Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday (March 5, 2004) from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seton Catholic High School, 240 South 6th Street, Richmond, IN 47374.
