Irene J. Hockett, age 91, of Richmond, died Tuesday morning (August 30, 2011) at Reid Hospital. She was born on September 2, 1919 in Camden, Ohio to Vernard and Ruth Austin Hall and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a graduate of Dixon Township High School and she attended Richmond Business College. She had worked at Avco and for Brandenburg Furniture and was a retired employee of the Wayne County Clerk's Office. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Her husband, Floyd Hockett, died on March 20, 1978. Survivors include her daughter - Karen (Gerald) Collins of Richmond; grandchildren - Chris Miller, Kyle (Anna) Miller, Courtney Miller, Kevin Wisecup, David (Julie) Wisecup; great grandchildren - Kylee Wisecup, Kennedy Miller, Hunter Wisecup, Erin Ullery, Jackson Miller, Syn'Cere Russell; son-in-law - Kenneth Miller of Richmond; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, her son - David Hockett, a casualty of the Viet Nam War, died on February 20, 1970, and her daughter - Rita Miller, died on April 16, 2006. Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday (September 2, 2011) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Pastor Pam Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call on Friday (September 2, 2011) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
