James "Jim" Williams, age 86, passed away on Tuesday April 9, 2024. He was born in Connersville, Indiana on January 21, 1938, to James and Althea Gregg Williams. His first job was in the late 1940s and early 1950s, passing papers for the Connersville News Examiner. In high school he worked at his father's service station in Connersville and went on to join the USAF in 1956, serving four years with the Strategic Air Command as a weapons mechanic. He married his beloved wife Sandra Shake in 1963, they had three children Andrea, Darren, and Loran; three grandchildren Samantha, Matthew and Cayden; and two great grandchildren Alissa and Jake. He was employed as an architectural draftsman with HH Robertson and later as a machinist with Roots/Dresser. He moved with his family in 1983 to Charlotte NC, where he was employed with Quality products as a machinist, QC inspector and purchasing agent. He spent his last years living in Richmond, Indiana with his son Darren and their dog Ernie. He enjoyed painting and keeping up with current affairs. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, friend and a wonderful human being. He will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his children Andrea, Darren and Loran; grandchildren Samantha, Matthew and Kayden; great grandchildren Alysa and Jake; brother Charles Williams; nieces and nephews Jennifer, Sean, Whitney, Taylor, Logan, Audrey, Ian and Christian. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife Sandra Shake Williams.
No funeral service will be held, per Jim's wishes.
