James A. Koorsen, Sr, age 83, formerly of Richmond, died Friday morning (June 18, 2010) at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was born in Three Rivers, Michigan on April 24, 1927 to Herman and Sara Gamber Koorsen and was raised in this area. Jim was a veteran of World War II and of the Korean War. He was a retired mechanical inspector in the aerospace industry. Survivors include his children - Byron Koorsen of Pittsburgh, Mark (Colleen) Koorsen of Pittsburgh, Jimmy (Teresa) Koorsen of Richmond, Greg Koorsen of Richmond; step-son - Alan (Brenda) Tillson of Richmond; sister - Gloria (Ray) O'Donnell of Richmond; grandchildren, nieces and nephews including a special nephew - Todd (Peggy Morton) Anderson of Richmond. In addition to his parents, two brothers, Lawrence (Larry) Koorsen and Thomas G. Koorsen, are also deceased. Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday (June 26, 2010) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Burial will be in Greens Fork South Cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Friends may call on Friday (June 25, 2010) from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
