James D. Markley, age 76, of Richmond, died Friday afternoon (May 22, 2009) at Arbor Trace. He was born in Campbellstown, Ohio on May 31, 1932 to Marvin J. and Edna Marie Bohn Markley and had lived here most of his life. He was a US Navy veteran and had worked as a manager for the former Blue Note Restaurant and for Richmond 40 Bowl. He had also worked at the former Lamp Post Restaurant and retired as an employee of American Legion Post 65. He was a life-member of the VFW and a member of American Legion Post 65 and of the Druids Lodge. Jim was an avid Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Reds fan Survivors include his wife of 51 years - Marla Markley; son - Michael (Jan) Markley of Richmond, sister - Myrna (James) McGinnis of New Paris, Ohio; grandson - Tyler Markley of Richmond; step-daughters - Cynthia Mussoni of Richmond and Susan Sasher of Richmond; step-grandchildren - Angela (Clarence) Leitner of Richmond and Scott Mussoni of New Castle; nieces and nephews including Sherry (David) Kaiser of Richmond, Terry (Linda) Opal of Richmond and Brian (Tricia) McGinnis of Germantown, Ohio; cousins and many friends. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday (May 27, 2009) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Pastor Terry Cochran will officiate. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery in the Veterans Field of Honor where military graveside services will be conducted by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Friends may call on Tuesday (May 26, 2009) from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
