James Newton, Jr., age 77, of Richmond, died Wednesday evening (February 20, 2013) at his residence. He was born in Evelyn, Kentucky on December 16, 1935 to James, Sr. and Martha Reece Newton. He was raised in Beattyville, Kentucky and lived most of his life in this area. He had worked for the former Dunham-Lehr Company. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Jeannette Newton; daughter, Tammy Newton, son, Robert Grimes of Richmond and daughters Brenda Baker, Karen Godinich and June Buckalew all of Huffman, Texas; grandchildren, Sam Grimes, Amanda Grimes, Michael Baker, Brenda Newbury, Kristy Young, Michelle Hammons, Jeremy Buckalew, Misty Buckalew; 12 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews including special niece Joyce Treadway. Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday (February 25, 2013) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Paul Mingus will officiate. Burial will be in Elkhorn Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday (February 25, 2013) from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
