James E. Rogers, age 96, of Richmond, died Wednesday evening (November 24, 2004) at Pinehurst Village. He was born in Wayne County on January 16, 1908 to Bert and Iva McClerney Rogers and had lived here all of his life. He was a 1926 graduate of Centerville High School and he was a retired mechanic and had worked for 25 years at the former Chenoweth Cadillac dealership. He had been an active member of the Richmond Senior Center and he had been a 10 year volunteer for Meals on Wheels where he received the 1000-hour pin for his service. He was a former member of First Christian Church where he was a long time member of the Golden Band Sunday School Class. He was currently a member of Calvary Baptist Church. His wife, Dorothy Bailey Rogers, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage in October 1989, died January 7, 1990.

two brothers, Elmer Rogers and Bob Rogers, are also deceased.
Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday (November 28, 2004) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Lester Maples and Rev. David Mosley will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday (November 28, 2004) from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
