Dr. James E. Szymanowski, passed away on Friday November 24, 2023 of natural causes. He was born on January 11, 1947 in Fremont, Ohio. James worked in Richmond, Indiana as an OB/GYN from 1977 until his retirement in 2013. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Jo Szymanowski; parents Edward J. and Mary Szymanowski and sister Sue Darr.

James was a loving, family man who leaves behind 3 children, Jason (Gari) Szymanowski, Keith Szymanowski and Jill (Todd) Crull (Szymanowski); 6 grandchildren, Chris Szymanowski, Jordan Szymanowski, Ayden Szymanowski, Heather Crull, Olivia Crull and William Crull; 1 great grandson Grayson Szymanowski. James also leaves his sister Deb Southworth of Naperville, Illinois.

James was an avid ham radio operator, he obtained his amateur radio license at a young age and continued to practice until the very end. He also loved fishing, gardening, collecting coins and playing cards with his friends. James was an animal lover who frequently donated to Help the Animals. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Services for James will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday December 1, 2023 at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary (32 South 11th St. Richmond). Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
