Janet W. Beckman, age 89, of Richmond, died Thursday morning (January 6, 2011) at Forest Park Health Campus. She was born in Richmond on July 25, 1921 to Richard and Helen Rhodes Roby and had lived here all of her life. She was a graduate of Morton High School and was a retired employee of the Eagles Lodge. She was very active in lodge activities serving as state secretary, state president, regional president, delegate, and in numerous local offices. She was inducted into the organizations grand hall of fame and was also designated "State Mother" recognizing her 50 years of service and dedication to the organization. She was a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church. Her husband, William H. Beckman, died in 1991. Survivors include her sons - Rick Beckman of Richmond, Jeffrey Beckman of Richmond; a grandson, a granddaughter, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, a son, Carl Beckman, and brother, Eugene Roby, are also deceased. Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday (January 10, 2010) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call on Sunday (January 9, 2010) from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
