Janet L. Murphy, 86, passed away peacefully January 7, 2025, at the Willows of Richmond, IN. She was born April 24, 1938, the daughter of Daniel Theodore and Linda Horner. Janet was a native and lifetime resident of Richmond.

She graduated from Richmond High School in 1956. Janet was a homemaker and worked part time as a teacher's aide at Pleasant View School.

She enjoyed sewing, making shirts for her husband, traveling during their retirement years and spending several years wintering in Haines City Florida.

Janet is survived by her husband of 67 years, Gerald M. "GM" Murphy of Richmond, sons, Michael Murphy of Fort Wayne, IN; Marc (Anne) Murphy DDS. of Indianapolis, IN; brother, Robert (Jane) Horner of Portage, IN; Carol Hatfield of Richmond, IN; grandchildren, Michael (Tiffany) Murphy Jr. Benjamin (Brandy) Murphy, Robert E. Murphy, Kyle (Lanie) Murphy, Alex (Dr. Cam) Murphy-Metzger DDS, Katie Murphy, Cody (McKenna) Murphy, step-grandson, Jason Howard, great grandchildren, Taylor, Gavin, Chelsey, Clay, Emma, Macie, and Makinley.

She was preceded in death by oldest son, Robert W. Murphy October 2024, brother, Dwight Horner and brother-in-law Thomas Hatfield.

Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday January 18th at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary, 32 S. 11th St. Richmond, IN, with visitation 2 hours prior.
