June 23, 2009 Jeffery W. Carnes, Age 60, of Richmond, died Monday (June 22, 2009) at his residence. He was born in Richmond on October 2, 1948 to DeWan "Jack" and Norma Carnes (Schroeder) and had lived here all of his life. He was a 1966 graduate of Richmond High School and had worked as a brick mason and was the lead worker in the construction of the memorial for those who died in the downtown explosion. He had also worked in kitchen design for Sears and for Lowes. Survivors include his children - Nicole (Buddy Vanlandingham) Carnes of Richmond, Jennifer Carnes of Richmond and Jack (Erin Howell) Carnes of Richmond; his mother - Norma Schroeder of Richmond; sisters - Sallye (Jim) Creech of Richmond, Lisa (Rick Barth) Simmons of Richmond, Julie (David) Stout of Richmond and Amy (Dave) Shake of Richmond; 5 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, 2 great nieces, 1 great nephew. He also leaves his beloved pet - "Abby" Services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no public visitation. Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
