Obituary

Jimmie H. Johnson, age 82, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday morning (September 29, 2009) peacefully in his sleep. He was born in Thomaston, Georgia on December 14, 1926 to Marvin and Lizzie Tillman Johnson . He was a US Army veteran of World War II and of the Korean War. He was a retired factory worker having worked for International Harvester, Chore Boy and Avco. He was a member of VFW Post 1108, Druids Lodge and American Legion Post 315. Survivors include four children - Sharon (Russell) Bradburn of Richmond, Cheryl (Gary) Kirk of Phoenix, Arizona, Shelly (Dave) Hawkins of Richmond, Jeff (Kirstin Fallang) Johnson of West Alexandria, Ohio; 7 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 step great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife - Linda Eadler Johnson on February 25, 1991, a sister - Frankie Huddleston in 1997, a great grandson -Kingston Bradburn in 2008 and his beloved cat "Junior" in 2009. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday (October 3, 2009) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Paul Mingus will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Centerville where military graveside services will be conducted by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Friends may call on Saturday (October 3, 2009) from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
