John C. Minner, age 79, of Richmond, died Tuesday afternoon (November 16, 2010) at Forest Park Health Campus with his family by his side. He was born in Richmond on March 21, 1931 to Silas and Hazel Muey Minner and had lived here all of his life. He was a graduate of Richmond High School and he retired from Dana Corporation after 34 years of employment and then worked part time for Ivy Tech State College. He was a Marine Corp veteran of the Korean War where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife of 49 years - Glenda Walls Minner; two daughters - Kathy (Larry) Cole, Michele (Doug) Tieman; son - John Scott Minner; two grandsons - Bradley Shaffer of Indianapolis and Bryan (Valerie) Shaffer and great grandson Ross Shaffer all of Richmond. Private services will be conducted on Friday (November 19, 2010) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Robert Malone will officiate. Burial will be in Greens Fork South Cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by the Wayne County Honor Guard. There will be no public calling.
