John Joseph Petrelli, age 95, passed away on March 31, 2013 at the Forest Park Health Campus in Richmond, Indiana. He was born on June 3, 1917 at Corona, New York, the son of the late Maria Domenica Ascatigno and Arsenion M. Petrelli. During World War II, John served in the United States Coast Guard from February 24, 1942 to September 13, 1944 at which time he received an honorable discharge. , He married Helen Francis Zipp on February 7, 1943 in Queens, New York and was employed as a joiner with the Brooklyn Navy Yard in Brooklyn, New York for twenty years until it closed in 1964. He was then employed as a security guard by United Airlines at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York, until his retirement in 1982. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife on May 27, 1993, one son, James Gerard Petrelli, on October 25, 1982 and by seven brothers and one sister. Prior to moving to Florida in 1996, John resided in New Hyde Park, New York for forty-five years where he was a member of the Notre Dame Catholic Church in New Hyde Park. John is survived by his daughter, Jean (Ron) Pyle of Richmond, Indiana; two grandsons, Chris (Amber) Pyle of Springfield, Illinois, Scott (Carla) Pyle of Crown Point, Indiana; two great grandchildren, Audrey and Jason Pyle of Crown Point, Indiana Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, New York. Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
