John Richard "Dick" Rees, age 83 of New Paris, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Sunday December 26, 2021. He was born in Richmond, Indiana on January 19, 1938 to John Rollin and N. Agnes Rees. Dick was a Richmond High School graduate and married Miriam L. Cox on May 4, 1958, at First Christian Church. He and Miriam were lifelong members and Dick served as an Elder for several years. He worked in retail sales for decades and retired from the Sears Auto Service Center and Lowes, then started his own lawn care business.

Dick had a strong commitment to providing for his family and was always working. Beyond work, he spent time gardening and enjoyed watching Ohio State games and following the Cincinnati Reds. He loved being around people, especially babies and young kids and always had time to stop and chat. Dick had a great sense of humor, known for joking around and making people laugh. He was proud of his family and it was especially evident when he talked about his grandkids and great grandkids and all the dogs!
Left to cherish his memory are his children Teri (Todd) Lee, Dan (Melissa) Rees; grandchildren Kayla (Mike) Goetz, Tyler and Travis Rees and great grandchildren Teddy and Archer Goetz. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Miriam and sister Janice Eileen Hollensen.

Services for Dick will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Friday January 14, 2021 at Riggle-Waltermann Morutary. Rev. Dr. Russell Haitch will officiate the service. Visitation will be held on Friday January 14, 2021 from 3:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
