John Wayne Stewart, age 81, passed away on Monday May 8, 2023 at Reid Hospital. He was born in Hazard, Kentucky on March 7, 1942 to Ottis and Sarah (Daniels) Stewart. After high school, John served in the United States Army, serving time in Germany. He had worked as an equipment installer for GTE and was a former member of the 315 American Legion and Marine Corps. John loved riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed participating in poker runs. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Dewayne Hag, Laura Kemp, Bethane Koslow, Ricky Barnett and step-children Melissa Jennings, Catina Lyons and Mark Lyons; brother Joe Stewart of Berea, Kentucky; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and significant other Shirley Lyons. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by siblings Ottis Stewart, Bruce Stewart and Dana Maggard.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Thursday May 11, 2023 at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary. A graveside service and burial will take place at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 12, 2023 in Madison County Memorial Gardens, Richmond, Kentucky. Wayne Miller will officiate. Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary is handling arrangements.
