John Paul Veach, 58, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on August 27, 1968, in Richmond, Indiana, to William John Veach and Shirley Angela (Bensman) Veach.

John was a proud, lifelong Notre Dame fan and enjoyed being part of the tradition and excitement surrounding Fighting Irish football. John and a group of dear friends volunteered as ushers at Notre Dame football games, a role he greatly enjoyed given his vantage point on the 50 yard line. He was also an avid Xavier University basketball fan and proud that he earned his bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurial Studies from Xavier University.

John followed in his father's footsteps as the owner and operator of Veach's Toy Store, where he enjoyed bringing joy to others through his work. His favorite department was the games, he enjoyed introducing customers to the new games on the toy store's shelves.

Music was another important part of John's life. He was a major Elton John fan and attended many of Elton John's concerts throughout the years. Crocodile Rock was his all-time favorite song. He was also a big fan of Jimmy Buffett. As a devoted Parrot Head, he enjoyed Margaritaville and searching for a shaker of salt. John played the drums in high school alongside a group of great friends. In recent years, John picked up the drum sticks, rekindling memories he had enjoyed (and endured at band camp) in his younger years.

Some of John's fondest memories were made on the water. As a child, he spent many happy days boating and water skiing with family at Brookville Lake and Cumberland Lake. As an adult, he continued that tradition by taking his own family to some of those same places, creating treasured memories that will live on with them.

Above all else, John's daughter was his whole world. The love and pride he had for her was evident to everyone who knew him, and the memories they shared will be cherished forever. Being a father was John's most important role in life. He leaves behind memories that will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter Baleigh Elizabeth Veach; sister Jennie Marie Veach and lifelong friend Doug Goss. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for John will be held at First English Lutheran Church in Richmond, Indiana, on Thursday September 24, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place from 9:30 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Minster, Ohio. Arrangements are being handled by Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary.
