Jon P. Blackwell, age 65, of Centerville, died Thursday morning (December 15, 2011) at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Richmond on June 6, 1946 to Wayne and Margaret Zeyen Blackwell and had lived in this area most of his life. He was a graduate of Richmond High School and attended Miami - Jacobs Business College. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving as an air traffic controller and attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Jon was the former owner and operator of Lemon's Florist and a member of Saint Andrew Church, the American Legion and Elks Lodge #649. He had served on the board and was past president of the Boys and Girls Club of Wayne County. He also had served on the board of the Richmond Wayne County Chamber of Commerce and was past president of the Indiana Division of FTD. He was an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife of 44 years - Lynda Blackwell; sons - Jon (Michele) Blackwell and Chris (Sherry) Blackwell both of Centerville; his mother - Margaret "Peg" Blackwell of Florida; sisters - Claudia (David) Boles of Anderson, SC; Jane ("Cork") Cordell of Kokomo, Nancy (Roy) Dyer of Springboro, Ohio; 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His father, Wayne Blackwell, died on October 16, 2002. Private memorial services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. There will be no public visitation.
