Joyce Ann Brockman, age 74, of Richmond, died unexpectedly Monday evening (November 4, 2013) at Reid Hospital as a result of complications during surgery. She was born in Jackson County, Kentucky on September 28, 1939 to Cecil and Effie Creech Cummins and had lived in this area most of her life. She was a graduate of Richmond High School and a homemaker. Joyce loved to cook and bake. She was an accomplished seamstress, adored her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an active member of Living Faith Church of God and will be fondly remembered for her dedication to the church. Her husband, David Brockman, died in 2000. Survivors include her daughters, Debra Berry of Richmond, Denise (Darrin) Coates of Richmond; siblings, Luther (Pauline) Cummins of Richmond, Robert (Pauline) Cummins of Richmond, Larry (Janice) Cummins of Taylor Mill, Kentucky, Janet (Robert) Coffey , Gary (Mona) Cummins, Richard Cummins, all of Richmond; grandchildren, Matthew Berry, Tabby Seger, Nathanuel (Becky) Cheek, Tyler King, Travis King, Dillon Coates; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She also leaves very special friends, Geneva Brockman, Alene Sutton and Edith Henderson. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Dr. John Kuhn, Dr. Paul Howanitz and the staff at Reid Hospital for their extraordinary care and concern. Services will be conducted on Saturday (November 9, 2013) at 1:00 p.m. in Living Faith Church of God (3777 Nolandsfork Road). Pastor Allen Henderson will officiate. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday (November 9, 2013) from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church.
