Karl W. Cates, age 79, of Richmond, died Sunday morning (5/15) at Oakridge Rehab and Specialty Care. He was born in Wayne County on August 31, 1925 to Harold and Opal Fowble Cates Runkle and had lived her all of his life. He attended Milton school and was a retired livestock buyer for Producers Live Stock where he had worked for 52 years. His wife of 54 years, Roberta "Bobbie" Cates, died July 31, 1998.

Betty Huber of Muncie, Indiana
Step-brothers - Albert Runkle of New Westville, Ohio
Richard Runkle of Centerville, Indiana
Step-sister - Mattie Bowman of Winchester, Indiana
3 half-brothers and 3 half-sisters all of Salt Lake City, Utah
And very special friends at Interfaith Apartments
A son, David H. Cates, died July 20, 2000.
