Linda K. Humphrey, 74, died peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on August 26, 2012. A lifelong resident of Richmond, Indiana, Linda was born June 14, 1938 to Dennis H. Kendall and Mary A. Loper Kendall at Reid Hospital. Linda later attended school at Starr Elementary and graduated from Richmond High School. Linda loved nature and wildlife. Doting on her own animals at home, she also made friends with many creatures as she traveled through the years. Linda was an avid gardener for much of her life, creating a sanctuary for birds, bumblebees and other wild animals to visit freely at her home. The greatest joy of her life in later years was her grandchildren and great grandchildren with whom she shared many special moments and laughter. Linda is survived by her children Kris Enders, Karole Passmore and Jack Humphrey; daughter-in-law Constance Humphrey and sons-in-law Tom Enders, and John Passmore; partner Logan Patterson, grandchildren Tylor McConkey, Brian Cox, Brad Cox, Kaitlin Rice, Mary Grace Passmore and Sammy Humphrey. She also leaves behind her great grandchildren Anastasia McConkey, Ian Jefferies, Pace and Mason McConkey, Ella Kelly Rice. She is survived by siblings Carolee Cummins, Mike Kendall, Melanie Kraemer, in-laws Bill, Dottie and Mike, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Humphrey, her grandson Andy Elza, and her two favorite dogs Max and Heidi. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Cope Enviornmental Center, 4910 Shoemaker Road, Centerville, IN 47330 or to Help the Animals, PO Box 117, Richmond, IN 47375. As was her wish, a simple interment will take place with her children present at graveside in Earlham Cemetery on Friday (August 31, 2012), and her life will be celebrated by having a private family memorial service at the home of her daughter this Sunday (September 2, 2012). Josh Brown, pastor of West Richmond Friends Meeting, will be present. Linda went from this world to the next surrounded by so much love and tender care for which there can be no greater gift to give or receive. She will be missed.
