Obituary

Lois Caroline Daggy, age 96 passed away peacefully at Arbor Trace Nursing Home on Monday, July 3, 2017. She was born in Richmond on June 30, 1921 to Edgar and Freda (Kehlenbrink) Hirschfield. She was a 1939 graduate of Morton High School.
Lois loved God, enjoyed people and participated in many organizations and activities in the Richmond area. She was a 75 year member of the First Christian Church where she taught Sunday school, served as the Librarian, sang in the choir, was an active member of the Christian Women's Fellowship and held many leadership positions. Through her church involvement she positively impacted the lives of many. Lois participated in several civic organizations. She was a founding and lifetime member of the Richmond Chapter of PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization) which advocated for education of Women Worldwide. She served on the Board of Directors at the YWCA and held various positions during her tenure there. Lois was an accomplished seamstress and volunteered time at the Townsend Center to help women learn to sew. She was also a grade school library volunteer in the Richmond public schools.
Lois enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, playing the piano, sewing, was an avid
reader, and enjoyed daily walking. She had a heart for entertaining and enjoyed a good competitive game of cards.
In 1964 she was chosen as the Homemaker of the Year for the Graphic Newspaper area
and represented the Richmond area at the national competition in Chicago, IL.
Lois was family oriented and enjoyed hosting family events and spending time with her children, grand-children and great grandchildren. Survivors include her sons, David Daggy Sr. (Lois) of Westminster, CO and Jeff Daggy (Cheryl) of Centerville, IN, 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. She is predeceased by her parents and her husband of 64 years, Earl N. Daggy, Jr.
Please join us at her Memorial Service on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 12:00 P.M. with calling from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary, Pastor Marty Holman officiating.
Burial will follow in Lutherania Cemetery.
