Obituary

Lois Jeannette Mathews, 90, passed away Friday March 2, 2018 at her residence. She was born on July 15, 1927 to Russell and Sherald (Overholser) Oler.
She graduated from Richmond Senior High School in 1944 and left immediately for Wright Patt Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio where she worked for the Navy as a decoder and on occasion sang for the USO there until the end of WWII. She then came back to Richmond where she was a secretary for several industries and retired in 1989 from the Wayne County Treasurer Office. She enjoyed her family, music, reading, sewing, quilting, crocheting and word search.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, George E. Mathews and her parents Russell and Sherald Oler.
Survivors include her son David (Karen) Mathews of Greeneville, TN; daughter Jan (Douglas) Katz of Richmond, IN; grandchildren Tarkus (Christy) Katz of Richmond, IN, Errol (Emily) Katz of Indianapolis, IN, Laura (Gary) Rearick of Muncey, PA, and Christopher Mathews of Richmond, IN; 9 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Per Jeannette's request, there will be no public calling and a private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
