Obituary

Lowell H. Conley, age 90, of Richmond, died Saturday afternoon (May 5, 2018) at Reid Health after a long battle with cancer. He was born on March 2, 1928 in Ravenscroft, Tennessee to William Preston and Sarah C. Finley Conley and had lived in this area most of his life. Lowell had worked in janitorial supply sales and was known as "the broom man". He had also worked at the former Nettle Creek Industries where he was recognized for his suggestions that saved the company thousands of dollars. Lowell was a 1948 graduate of the Indiana School for the Blind and a former instructor for the school where he taught broom making and chair caning for 4 years. He was a well known musician playing with various groups and performing at numerous local events. He was a piano tuner and had also worked at Reid Hospital, Berg's Camera Store and Starr Piano Company. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Lowell was a godly man who told everyone about Jesus. He looked forward to Jesus's face being the first one he would see in heaven.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Marcia Conley; children Marvin Conley of New Paris, Ohio, Marilyn (John) Greenwood of Indianapolis, Ruth"Bunnie" (Kevin) Cross of Muncie and Rebecca Conley of Richmond; step-children John R. (Marie) Cook of Mentone, Indiana, Diane (Marvin) Kelley of Connersville and Darla (Tom) Baker of Knightstown; 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, a brother, Hoyett Conley, and sisters Amie Willine Parker and Hazel Walters are also deceased.
Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (May 9, 2018) in Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary. Pastor Curt Nies will officiate. Burial will be in Bentonville Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday (May 8, 2018) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
