Obituary

M. Joan Schlotterbeck, age 78, of Richmond, died Sunday morning (November 27, 2011) at her residence. She was born in Richmond on February 5, 1933 to Charles H. and Lucy Hignite Tincher and had lived here all of her life. Joan was a 1951 graduate of Richmond High School and had worked at the former Richmond Homes. She was a homemaker and a life-long member of First Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday School. She was a member of Gideons International and had participated in it's jail ministry for 35 years. She was also a participant in Child Evangelism, the New Creations Christian Center and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She was an associate member of the Wayne County Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Fred Schlotterbeck; daughter - Louanne (Lance) Berryman of Peru, Indiana; sons - Tim (Gina) Schlotterbeck of Indianapolis, Mark ((Norene) Schlotterbeck of New Castle; grandchildren - Amanda Owens, Rachel Schlotterbeck, Raeanne Schlotterbeck, Andrew Berryman, Kelly Berryman; great grandchildren - Ethan Owens, Madeline Owens, Molly Berryman, Max Berryman; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, a brother, Carl Tincher, is also deceased. Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday (December 1, 2011) in First Baptist Church (1601 South "A" Street). Rev. James Spon will officiate. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday (November 30, 2011) from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church.
