Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Malachi Romi Baumgartner, who left us too soon on September 10, 2025, at the age of 25. Born on January 9, 2000, in Anderson, IN, Malachi was a bright light in the lives of those who knew him.

Malachi lived life on his own terms. Even with challenges, he embraced his passions with joy. He was known for his love of cooking, fishing, reading and diving into exciting worlds through video games and movies. An avid anime fan, particularly "Naruto", often sharing his favorite episodes and characters with family and friends. Malachi was very creative, particularly in the art of origami. His ability to turn simple sheets of paper into intricate designs was a demonstration of his imaginative mind.

Family meant the world to Malachi. He cherished gathering with loved ones, spreading kindness and warmth wherever he went. His gentle spirit and big heart touched everyone around him. Malachi loved Jesus Christ and inspired those around him with his unwavering faith and compassion.

Malachi is survived by his devoted parents Mervin and Barbara Baumgartner; siblings Jeff (Cindy) Baumgartner, Lori Contreras (Max), Jessica Baumgartner (Jeremy), Emma Baumgartner, Rebecca (Troy) Street, Kaitlyn Baumgartner, Brittany Baumgartner, Matthew Baumgartner, Micah Baumgartner and Carissa Baumgartner; maternal grandmother Sue Hartman; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Romie and Geneieve Baumgartner, maternal grandfather Leonard Hartman and brother-in-law Brandon Revalee.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Superb Care of Indy for the exceptional care they gave to Malachi. They had a major impact on his life, he was treated like family and we are forever grateful for the kindness he was shown.

Services for Malachi will be held on Friday September 19, 2025 at 1:00 pm with a public visitation from 11am-1pm at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary (32 South 11th St. Richmond, Indiana). Family and friends are invited to come together to honor a wonderful person whose spirit will always be remembered.
