Obituary

Malcolm Kenneth Merkamp, age 80 of Centerville, IN passed away Tuesday, June 10th. He was born in Richmond, IN on September 21st, 1944 to Kenneth and Alma Merkamp. In loving memory of Malcolm, whose heart was rooted in the land. A lifelong farmer, He found joy in every sunrise over the fields and peace in the rhythm of the seasons. His hands nurtured not only the soil but everyone around him. Working in the fields wasn't just a job, it was a calling, a way of life that brought deep satisfaction and pride. Malcolm's legacy will live on in the harvests to come and the lives he touched along the way. He also enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Star (Randy) Gabbard, Chrissy Merkamp Kramer and Darren Merkamp; sister Marie Camden; grandchildren Zachary Campbell, Ryan (Kristen) Crawley, Jennifer Crawley and Darren Merkamp Jr.; 8 great grandchildren; stepchildren Jeanetta, Jessie and Jason. In addition to his parents, Malcolm is preceded in death by his wife Pam Merkamp; siblings John Merkamp, Brenda Radford and Norma Darrah.

A special acknowledgment is given to Vince for his care taking, and support during Malcolm's illness.

Services for Malcolm will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday June 16, 2025 at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary, with Pastor Rick Alvey officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00am-1:00pm on Monday at the funeral home.
