Obituary

Marilyn B. Summitt, age 76, passed away Monday morning (November 4, 2013) at Reid Hospital. She was born on May 5, 1937 in Tipton County, Indiana to Phillip and Halcie Small, she moved to, and was raised in Fairmount, Indiana. She was a 1955 graduate of Fairmount HS. She had lived in the Richmond area since 1961. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, was an avid Euchre player and the mushroom hunts she would host on her family's farm were a yearly ritual. She had an active role in the lives of countless young people, becoming a lifelong friend and mentor to many. She was a 50 year member of the Richmond Seventh Day Adventist Church. She served her Lord and Savior in almost every way imaginable from children groups to church treasurer. She had a Christ-like compassion for people that shown through her. Survivors include her three sons, Don (Tammy) Summitt of Richmond, Bill (Annette) Summitt of Richmond, Joe (Elizabeth) Summitt of Indianapolis; three sisters Imogene Miller of Fairmount, Indiana, Edith Blair of Beavercreek, Ohio, Carolyn DeLong of Carmel, Indiana, two brothers Bill Small of Brownsburg, Indiana, John Small of Fairmount, Indiana, six grandchildren Paul (Heather) Summitt of Richmond, Joel Summitt of Fountain City, Jarrod (Heidi) Gullet of Lynn, Nathaniel, Joshua and Jillian Summitt of Indianapolis, three Great Grandchildren Mallory, Ella Summitt and Trenton Gullet, and several Nieces and Nephews and several Great Nieces and Nephews. Including her parents she is also preceded in death by three sisters, Cleo Sink, Gladys Cottingham and Lola Nelson. Services will be held at Seventh Day Adventist Church on Friday (November 8, 2013) at 12:00 P.M, with a public viewing at 11:00 A.M preceding the service. Burial will be in Park Cemetery in Fairmount, Indiana. Pastor Dwight Kruger will officiate. Friends may call on Thursday (November 7, 2013) from 4:00 P.M. To 7:00 P.M.
