Marilyn Joyce Turner, age 69, of Richmond, died Saturday afternoon (March 28, 2009) at Reid Hospital. She was born in Winchester, Indiana on September 2, 1939 to Inzie and Bernice Christie Parker and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a graduate of Winchester High School and received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Ball State University in 1960. She received her master's degree from Ball State in 1966. Marilyn had taught school in Royerton, Eaton, Spartanburg, Union City and Richmond. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Psi Iota Xi Sorority and the Centerville Senior Center where she was active in the center's art classes. Survivors include her husband of forty-eight years - Gilbert M. Turner; sons - Kevin (Jane) Turner of Centerville, Kelly (Karen) Turner of Fountain City, Kris (Kay) Turner of Cambridge City; sister - Francis Keys of Winchester; brothers - Don (Sue) Parker of El Paso, Texas, David (Lucille) Parker of Winchester; grandchildren - Michele (John) Owens, Dennis Cox, Kyle Turner, Kristie Turner, Morgan Gregory and a grandchild to be born in July; great grandchildren - Kody Morris Turner, Carter Owens, Jamie Cox, Kaden Cox and A.J. Owens; nieces and nephews In addition to her parents, a sister -Dorothy Holderman and a brother,Dick Parker are also deceased. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday (April 1, 2009) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Friends may call on Tuesday (March 31, 2009) from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
