Mark Edgar Brunton Sr. was a loving Christian, father, grandfather, husband, and family man. He was born October 30, 1943 in Richmond, IN to David and Beatrice (née Adams). Raised in Richmond and with deep family roots in the area, he resided in Wayne County most of his life. He died November 18, 2023 at 80 years old. A Vietnam Air Force veteran of the remarkable 71st Special Operations Squadron (which flew, relatively unscathed, over 6,000 hours in six months in a combat zone), he served honorably in that war during its peak intensity (1968-69). After his time in the service, Mark graduated from Purdue University with a degree in engineering. A highly regarded salesman, he ended his working career as a successful and respected Realtor. Mark believed deeply in the promise of America: One Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All.
He is preceded in death by his parents and David Stringfield. Left to cherish his memory are his eldest son Mark (of Richmond) and wife Kristen (née Marschand) – parents of grandchildren Madelyn (Ball State), Mark III (IU), and Kathryn (Richmond High); younger son Mathew (who lives in Valdez, AK with partner Jessica Tran), wife Marilyn (née Genutis) and grandchildren Brianna and Elizabeth Stringfield.
Graveside services will be held at Earlham Cemetery on Wednesday, November 29 at 1pm.
