Martha R. Gay, age 71, of Richmond, died Wednesday afternoon� (October 8, 2008) at Reid Hospital.� She was born in Kinston, North Carolina on September 1, 1937 to Charles and Luella Cahoon Grady and had lived in this area since 1962.� She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother.� Martha was very artistic and loved reading.� She wrote poetry, liked to cook and found pleasure in teaching her children Bible interpretation.�Survivors include her husband of 56 years - Carl R. Gay;� sons - Carl Gay of Richmond and Ben (Debbie) Gay of Richmond; daughters - Deborah (William) Johnson of Florida, Wanda (Scott) Berry of Decatur, Indiana, Nikki (Doug) Auger of Richmond;� foster children - Maria Clifford of Muncie and Billy Livesay of Richmond; her twin sister - Margie Hall of Decatur, Illinois and sister Margaret Gibbs of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.�There is no public visitation or service planned.� Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary is handling arrangements.
