Marty (Suzie) Suzette Jones, age 74, of Richmond Indiana, joined her husband, John in the house of the Lord, Friday, November 24, 2023.
Suzie was born on November 6, 1949 in Richmond IN, to Russell Herbert and Olga Marian Harriett Marte Mathews.
She went to Richmond High School and graduated in the class of 1969. She would go on to retire from her position as a cosmetics manager at CVS pharmacy. She was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church, the Ladies Auxillary of the Knights of Saint John, the Ladies Auxillary of the American Legion, and the Eagles. She volunteered at her son's church, Southwood Baptist, where she helped in the church office, nursery, and visitation ministry.
Although she had many accomplishments and contributions to her various groups, she would tell you her greatest accomplishment was raising her family. She was a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She took great pride in all of her children and grandchildren's accomplishments. She truly was the number one fan for all of those close to her. Suzie would attend EVERY event possible. Not only would she attend, she would find any way she could to make each event special. She would always make sure that you felt like it was "your day" whether it be flowers, a handwritten note documenting your accomplishment, a memento or by exclaiming and making everyone else acknowledge that it was in fact your special day. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends regardless of what the time was spent doing. Although, she especially enjoyed playing euchre, bingo and board games. She would drag you onto the dance floor and certainly wouldn't be the first to leave. Suzie was selfless, truly selfless. Even on a day meant for celebrating her, she would burn her light even brighter and make sure that if there was going to be a celebration for her then everyone would enjoy their time.
Suzie loved Christmas. She loved Christmas because she got to celebrate the birth of the Lord but also to spread the Christmas spirit. She made sure to celebrate all year by watching Christmas movies and displaying her nutcrackers. Christmas helped feed her shopping addiction but always for others. She truly was the best number 2 because she always made those around her feel like number one. To know her was to love her. She was someone who could never be tamed and someone you didn't want to.
She found solace in seeing a cardinal. She would always try to guess which family member was paying her a visit. For whomever is reading this and it resonates, find solace in knowing that one of those cardinals you may now see is our beloved Suzie.
Suzie is survived by her Daughter: Sherri (Frank) Lahman of Richmond, IN; Son: John (Mindy) Jones II of Beech Grove, IN; Grandchildren: Heather (Will) Davis, John (Brittany) Jones III, Jennifer (Ethan) Wyatt, Destiny Jones, Hannah Jones, Jessica (Kyle) Grubb, and Kimberly Lahman. Great-Grand-Daughters: Elizabeth Davis, Emily Davis, and Vivian Wyatt, Her Brother: John Mitchell (Keri) Mathews; Brothers-in-laws, Sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, many close friends and her beloved dog Gunner.
