Mary Bethge Powers died Friday, May 6, 2011, at Friends Fellowship Community. Mrs Powers was born in Wayne County, December 27, 1917, the daughter of Ross and Agnes Kuth Markey. After graduating from Morton High School, Mrs. Powers married William Bethge. For the next thirty years they lived throughout the Midwest as they transferred with International Harvester until returning to Richmond in 1973 after Mr. Bethge's death. In 1975 she married G. Fred Powers Sr. and resided in Richmond and Fort Myers, Florida for the next twenty years. Mrs. Powers is survived by her stepdaughter - Sarah (Numon) Johnson, stepson - John (Connie) Powers of Liberty, nephews Pierce Marlin Markey, Paul (Janet) Markey of Colorado, a niece - Barbara Lee Nugent of Florida, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her parents, husbands, stepson and daughter-in-law, Fred, Jr. and Patty Powers, two sisters, Martha and Joan Markey and three brothers, Pierce, Cleatus and Jonas Markey preceded her in death. Services will be conducted by Rev. Robert Wyrick, a cousin of the family, at Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
