Obituary

Mary Helen Seals, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on December 25, 1933, in LaFollette, Tennessee, Mary lived a life filled with love, dedication, and a strong sense of community. She graduated from Jacksonboro High School and spent over 65 years sharing her life with her devoted husband, Larry Seals. Together, they built a loving home, and raised two wonderful children, Larry Seals Jr., and Mary E. (Seals) Johnson. Mary and Larry managed Stuckey's for several years; 11 years in Kenosha, Wisconsin before moving to Centerville, Indiana, managing that location for 23 years. In addition to management, Mary's professional life included roles that reflected her commitment to her Lord and Savior. For 16 years, she served as a custodian for Lighthouse Assembly of God and dedicated 10 years to Hillcrest Baptist Church. Throughout her life, she embraced challenges with grace and often said, "It will be what it will be," a phrase that exemplified her positive outlook and having the ability to only control the things you can control.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Larry Seals; son Larry D. Seals Jr.; granddaughter Chelsea (Weston) Johnson Hemmelgarn; son-in-law Steve Johnson; 9 great-grandchildren and other family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Johnson.

Mary will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched.

A public visitation will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church on Thursday July 23, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, allowing loved ones to pay their respects. Pastor Martin Holman will officiate the funeral service for Mary on Friday July 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery in Centerville, Indiana.
