Melanie Morris Vizcarrondo was born 30 April 1946 to parents Robert and Harriette Morris in Kingman Arizona. They raised her on the Morris family farm in Lynn, Indiana alongside her brother Bob where she began her lifelong love of horses and music. She was very active in 4H, Girl Scouts, cheerleading, and her high school band. She continued her love of music into her adult life by playing organ and piano for her church.
Work and love took Melanie around the world until she eventually settled in southern Maryland to raise her daughters Valerie and Vanessa as well as William Vizcarrondo's widowed children Stacey and Todd. She was a very active mother, serving as home room mom, Troop Leader, and District Commissioner for the United States Pony Club. Upon the death of her husband William, she returned back to her roots in Indiana to take care of her mother and the farm.
Having beaten breast cancer for over 20 years, Melanie died on 7 June of natural causes under the good caretakers at Golden Rule where her memory will live on. Her passion for horses, the outdoors, reading, and arts and crafts lives on in her daughters as well as her granddaughter Statia Mae. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Melanie's honor to the world renowned horse hospital, New Bolton Center.
