Melvin Lady, age 64, passed away Monday (August 12, 2013) at Reid Hospital. He was born in Richmond on February 10, 1949 to Lige and Viola Lady and had lived here all his life. Melvin worked at Swayne Robinson as a foundry worker. Survivors include his wife of 24 years Nancy; sons David Lady, Melvin Lady Jr., and Len (Angela) Ward; daughters Michelle Lady, Katina Ward (Ryan Mattix), Jennifer (Randy) Gardner, Angel Ward; 21 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, brothers Bobby Jones, Johnny Jones, Jerry Lady and sister Verdena Cressy are also deceased. Grave side services for Melvin will be held on Thursday (August 15, 2013) at 11:00 a.m. at Chester Cemetery. Fletcher Callahan will officiate.
