Myrtle Louise Jackson, 84, of Richmond, died Friday (June 15, 2012) after a brief illness. She was born August 13, 1927 in Gordonburg, Tennessee to the late Grady Sr., and Phoebe Wheat. She moved to Richmond in 1965 from Pittsburgh, PA. Myrtle was a housewife and also performed day work for several families in the Richmond community. She was a mother and caregiver to all of her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and opened her home to those that needed a place to stay. She was a spiritual woman and was a member of Holy Temple Church of God in Christ for many years. Her role as mother never changed even with her church family; she always gave advice and love to everyone she met. Myrtle will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son, James Jackson (Armanda) of Pittsburgh, PA; nieces - Rita Thomas (Stanley), Danielle Sanders, Tonya Stevens, Mary Pegues all of Richmond; Denise Wheat and Keiandra Jones of Indianapolis, Indiana, Deborah El and Orrisa El of Pittsburgh, PA; nephews - David Wheat of Philadelphia, PA, Paul Denard, Burnell Wheat and Sam Simon of Pittsburgh, PA, Michael Mayberry of Richmond; four grandchildren - Lakisha Madison (Cedric), Darnell Armstead, James Jackson, Jr., Jerome Johnson; four great grandchildren; two great nephews; three great nieces; beloved friend - Mildred Brown, and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Herbert Jackson, who died in 1997; two brothers, Grady Wheat, Jr. and Richard Wheat, Sr., two nephews, Richard Wheat, Jr. and Eric Wheat. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday (June 23, 2012) at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 1431 South 14th Street, Richmond.
