Nina Rose Brooks, age 96, of Richmond, died Thursday (April 18, 2013) at Emeritus in Xenia, Ohio. She was born in Ligonier, Indiana on January 22, 1917 to Forrest Glen Maple and Vivian Schroy Maple. Nina graduated from Morton High School in 1935 and later from Indiana Business College. She was employed at Prudential Insurance Company and also worked in the federal civil service. Nina married Walter Isaac Brooks on May 8,1942. They resided in California during World War II and returned to Richmond after the war. Nina was a homemaker and supported her children's activities, especially scouting. She enjoyed antiquing and refinishing furniture with her husband. She has been a member of First Friends Meeting since March 1941. She is survived by daughters Anne L. Brooks of Centreville, VA; Sara Brooks Sundberg (Marshall) of Emporia, KS; son Thomas S. Brooks (Starlene) of Xenia, Ohio; brother, William L. Maple of Dunedin, Florida; grandchildren: Marshall L. Sundberg of Houston, TX, Adam D. Sundberg of Lawrence, KS, Emma J. Sundberg of Emporia, KS, Evan T. Brooks of Xenia, Ohio, Scott W. Brooks of Chicago, IL, David G. Brooks of Springfield, IL; nephews Michael Maple of Fredericksburg, VA, Mark Maple of Cambridge City, IN. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday (April 20, 2013) in Goshen Cemetery. Jeff Wolfe will officiate. Friends may call on Saturday (April 20, 2013) from 11:00 a.m. To 1:00 p.m. At Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. A reception for family and friends will be held at the Olde Richmond Inn following the service.
