Obituary

Norma J. Wharton, age 93 of Richmond went to be with the Lord on Friday April 14, 2023. She was born in Richmond, Indiana on June 11, 1929, to Clyde Morris and Dorothy Sims Morris. Norma had a passion for art that started at a young age, she was a very talented painter. She was a longtime member and volunteer of the Richmond Art Association. One of her paintings won 1st place at the Indiana state fair. Norma was a longtime member of Oak Park Pentecostals and loved reading her Bible. She adored her cats and enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with family. Everyone who knew her loved her and she will be missed by many.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Doug (Cheryl) Wharton and Barbara (Bob) Pallesen; grandchildren Stacy (Ryan) Coffey, Jaime (Quintin) Shuler, Jonathan (Tosha) Wharton; great grandchildren Ciera (Caleb) Lichtle, Bailey Moistner, Jasmine Shuler, Ariel Shuler, Nevaeh Wharton, Kaedyn Crawford, Kynzlie Wharton and Keelyn Wharton. In addition to her parents, Norma is also preceded in death by her husband John Wharton and sister Barbara Bishop.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday April 20, 2023, at Earlham Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Jaco of The Sanctuary of New Castle will be officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Norma's name to Alzheimer's Association, 8430 W Bryn Mawr Ave, Suite 800 Chicago, IL 60631 or Richmond Art Museum 350 Hub Etchison Pkwy Richmond, IN 47374. Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
