Patty M. Powers, age 66, of Richmond and Hamilton Lake, Indiana, died Monday (May 9, 2005) at her residence in Richmond after an extended illness. She was born on August 4, 1938 in Highpoint, North Carolina to Roy and Dorothy Fowler Mickey. She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and was a graduate of Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. She was a social worker for Richmond Community Schools.
Survivors include - Husband - G. Fred Powers, Jr. whom she married August 27, 1960 in Jacksonville, Fla.
Daughters - Sandra Elizabeth "Beth" Macke and husband Jon of Newnan, Georgia
Kimberly Lynn Kinsey and husband Chris of Lake Worth, Florida
Son - G. Fred "Trey" Powers III and wife Marta of Newnan, Georgia
Mother - Dorothy A. Mickey of Jacksonville, Florida
Sister - Betty Sorensen of North Reddington Beach, Florida
Four Grandchildren - Fredi and Sydni Kinsey and Brad and Jay Macke
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Mickey, and a favorite uncle, Jay Witcher.
Her memory will be a treasure to all who knew her. She was a gift from the Lord and a bright light on this earth.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday (May 13, 2005) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Robert F. Wyrick will officiate. Friends may call on Thursday (May 12, 2005) from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
