Obituary

Paul "Ed" Doddridge, age92, of Richmond, died Wednesday (July 7, 2010) at Golden Living Center - Golden Rule after several years of declining health. He was born on July 26, 1917 in Centerville to Clarence and Ethel Jones Doddridge and had lived most of his life in the Richmond area. He attended schools in Abington, Centerville and Milton. He was retired from Dana Corporation as Quality Control Manager and had worked for Birck's Ace Hardware. He also worked 14 years for Moto Mower, 7 years for Excelo and 14 years for Eaton Gear Works. He was a 50 year member of First Christian Church serving the Lord and his beloved Church as deacon and greeter. Ed was a US Army veteran of World War II serving with the 5th Infantry Division where he received military honors while serving in the European Theater. He was a life member of the VFW. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter, an Honorary Life Member of the Old Trails Rifle and Pistol Club and a member of the NRA. He is survived by one sister - Bertie McFarlane of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, niece and caregiver - Carolyn (Gayle) Gardner of Richmond, Nieces - Linda Vail of Greenfield, Bonnie (Bob) Gossage of Anderson, Priscilla Law of Vermontville, MI, nephews - John (Jane) Doddridge of Naples, Fl., Jerry (Beth) Doddridge of Cambridge City, Bob (Betty) Doddridge of Greenfield, Tom (Debbie) Doddridge of Milltown, Roy Doddridge of Noblesville, Philip (Peggy) Doddridge of Shirley, great nieces, great nephews and his life-long friends, the Allman family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 48 years, Madonna E. Doddridge, a sister, 6 brothers and a nephew. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday (July 10, 2010) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Amanda Hines will officiate. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Friends may call on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 100 South 10th St. Richmond, IN 47374 or to the Old Trials Rifle and Pistol Club or Doddridge Chapel Cemetery Association both in care of the funeral home or to a favorite charity. www.riggle-waltermann.com .
