Phyllis I. Anderson, age 71, formerly of this area and most recently residing in Barefoot Bay, Florida, died Tuesday morning (October 13, 2009) at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee after a short illness. She was born on January 22, 1938 in Lynn, Indiana to Harold and Pauline Brown and had lived most of her life in Michigan. Phyllis was a 1956 graduate of Spartanburg High School. She had worked as a secretary for special education in Grand Ledge, Michigan schools and retired in 2000 moving to Florida. She worked part-time at the Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Sebastian, Florida. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and of the Moose Lodge. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She liked playing euchre, sewing, cooking and helping others. Survivors include her daughter - Kathy Anderson of Newport News, Virginia; sons - Brad Anderson of Rapid City, South Dakota, Doug (Marcie) Anderson of Chapel Hill, Tennessee; five grandchildren - Leanne (Jon) Falconer, Stephanie Anderson, Doug Anderson, Jr., Matt Anderson and Paden Anderson; great granddaughter - Ava Falconer; step-granddaughter - Vicki (Mike) West; sisters - Marilyn (Ted) Engelbert of Richmond, Indiana, Judy Martin of Barefoot Bay, Florida; brother - Kenneth (Patt) Brown of Richmond, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday (October 20, 2009) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary (32 South 11th St. Richmond, Indiana). Rev. Tom Govin of the Lynn Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery (Wayne County, Indiana). Friends may call on Tuesday (October 20, 2009) from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
