Ralph E. "Hank" Hankosky, age 77, of Richmond, died on Tuesday� (March 13, 2007) at Reid Hospital due to an unexpected illness.� He was born in Richmond on July 23, 1929 to Julius and Margaret Popp Hankosky and had lived here all of his life.� He was a 1948 graduate of Richmond High School and was a veteran of the US Army.� Hank will be remembered for his many activities and community contributions.� He was a retired employee of Kemper Cabinets and had played drums in several different dance bands including his own group,� Starlight Combo.� He had served as local president of U.S.W.A 5163 and as vice president and president of the American Federation of Musicians Local 388.� He had served as vice president of A.F.L.-C.I.O. and as district president of the William Penn Fraternal Association.� He had also served as a member on the founding board of trustees of Ivy Tech and as secretary of that board.� Hank had served on the advisory board to Indiana University East/Purdue University extensions.� He had served as a member of the board for Boy's Club, United Way, O.E.O., Green Acres and District 30 U.S.W.A..� In his retirement, Hank constructed a 150 foot-long World Space Exhibit in memory of the Challenger crew and a 26� foot-long Star War Exhibit which he donated to the Boys and Girls Club.� He was an avid golfer and a member of Saint Andrew and of Holy Family churches.� He was an associate member of the Wayne County Retired Teachers Association.

Brothers Julius and wife Sylvia Hankosky of Nashville, Tennessee and Robert and wife Dot Hankosky of Richmond;
Sisters-in-law Henrietta Hankosky and Beulah Hankosky;
Nieces Gloria Jean (Carl) Ledbetter, Doreen Swan, Karen Holz and Cindy Peppin;
Nephews Robert Hankosky, Jr, Kevin Hankosky and Kurtis Hankosky;
Great Nieces Misty Hankosky and Michelle Holz.

In addition to his parents, two brothers Alder and Charles Hankosky, are also deceased.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday (March 16, 2007) in Holy Family Church.� Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.� Friends may call on Friday (March 16, 2007) from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the church.� Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Andrew Church or to� Holy Family Church or to Seton High School Gymnasium Fund all in care of 240 South 6th Street, Richmond, Indiana 47374.� Riggle -Waltermann Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.�
