Obituary

Richard H. "Rick" Honan, age 73, of Richmond, died Thursday morning (October 21, 2010) at Reid Hospital. He was born in Indianapolis on November 16, 1936 to William C. and Esther Hawkins Honan (Boyd). He was a graduate of Pontiac, Illinois High School and had attended Indiana University East. Rick had worked for Avco, for Natco, for Elder Beerman and had owned and operated Honan's Camera Shop. After his retirement he found great enjoyment as a substitute teacher for various schools in the Richmond area. He was a veteran of the US Navy and was a former member and past president of the Kiwanis Club. Rick had been an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts of American serving as a Commissioner and as a Merit Badge Counselor. Survivors include his wife of 52 years - Barbara Honan; daughters - Katherine (Michael) Anderson of Swansea, Massachusetts; Lori (Frank) Konermann of Brownsburg, Indiana; half-sister - Pamela (Ken) Peterson of South Bend; half-brother - Joseph Honan of Fishers; step-brother - Raymond (Vinnie) Boyd of Saint Cloud, Florida; five grandchildren - Jessica (Brett) Craig, Hailey and Erik Konermann, Wilber and Henning Anderson; nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday (0ctober 25, 2010) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Chaplain David Garman will officiate. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Friends may call on Sunday (October 24, 2010) from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
