Robert "Bob" William Murphy 64, passed away Wednesday October 16, 2024, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN. He was born June 10, 1959, in Richmond the son of Gerald "GM" and Janet Murphy. Bob graduated from Richmond High School in 1977. He played trombone in the high school orchestra and the marching band. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Indiana University. Bob was a computer programmer for Belden in Richmond for several years before being afflicted by a stroke in 2012.
He was an avid online gamer and enjoyed playing board games.

He is survived by his parents Gerald and Janet Murphy, both of Richmond, son Robert E. Murphy, brothers, Michael Murphy, Dr. Marc (Anne) Murphy, nephews, Michael (Tiffany) Murphy, Ben (Brandi) Murphy, Kyle (Lanie) Murphy, Cody (McKenna) Murphy, nieces, Dr. Alex (Dr. Cameron) Metzger and Katie Murphy.
Bob was preceded in death by grandparents, Daniel and Linda Horner and Patrick Francis and Carrie Murphy.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Thursday October 24, 2024, at Riggle Waltermann Mortuary, 32 S. 11th Street, Richmond, IN with visitation 2 hours prior. Committal and Burial following at Elkhorn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Stroke Foundation https://americanstroke.org/donate/
