Robert C. Myers passed away peacefully at Reid Health on Sunday November 24, 2024 at the age of 94. He was born in Richmond, Indiana on April 22, 1930 to Charles C. and Bettie (Nickens) Myers. Robert started working at the age of 10, delivering newspapers and then setting pins at the bowling alley. He is a Richmond High School graduate, class of 1948 and was the first male cheerleader at RHS. On September 11, 1959, he married Velda Waller and together they celebrated 47+ years of marriage until her passing in 2007. Robert was the co-owner and operator of Plaza Pizza and had worked at Elizabeth Parkers restaurant for several years. Robert eventually retired from Wayne Works where he worked as a purchasing agent. He was a member of First Christian Church and was heavily involved in the Richmond Civic Theatre, he lived and breathed the theatre and considered everyone at RCT to be like a second family to him. He built and/or painted too many stage sets to count and enjoyed the many roles he played throughout the years, especially the role of Santa. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds and IU basketball fan and had attended many local baseball games with his brothers Jack and Dan. Robert was dearly loved by his family, especially by his grandson Colt, for whom he shared a very special relationship.
Left to cherish his memory are his children Rebecca "Becky" Thomas (Bruce) and Robert C. Myers II (Tracy); grandchildren Andrew Thomas, Joseph Myers, Jennifer Myers, Hope Thomas, Colt Thomas and Kaitlyn Myers; brother Dan Myers; 8 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his wife Velda Myers and siblings Betty Jewel Morrison, Ramona Benson, Paul Myers, Jack Myers.
Memorial contributions may be made in Robert's name to First Christian Church, 100 South 10th St. Richmond, Indiana.
Rev. Cindy Plouge will officiate a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Saturday December 7, 2024 at First Christian Church, (100 South 10th St. Richmond). Visitation will take place prior to the service, from 12pm-2pm, at the church. Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary is handling arrangements.
