Robert "Bob" A. Porter, age 82, passed away on Friday December 3, 2021, at Reid Health. He was born in Elwood, Indiana on December 6, 1938, to Luther and Helen Hodge Porter. Robert graduated from Anderson High School in 1957 and was married to Ivay Robinson on October 2, 1957. He had lived in the Connersville community since 1957 until moving to Richmond in 2018. Robert had worked as a manager for Schiff Shoes for 18 years between 1957-1975 before becoming a real estate owner/broker for which he retired from in 2001. He loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife Ivay Porter; children Gary (Karen) Porter of Lewisville, IN, Linda (Jim) Harris of Richmond, IN, Lisa (Paul) Whitecotton of Greensburg, IN, Mike (Sharon) Porter of Adairsville, GA, Doug Porter of Richmond, IN, Beth Makovic of Richmond, IN; siblings Sherryl (Bob) Richey of FL and Jerry (Barbara) Porter of Anderson, IN; 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Robert is preceded in death by his mother and father, sisters Judy Ress and Mary Shirley and son-in-law Mike Makovic.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday December 8, 2021, at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday December 8, 2021, at the funeral home.
