Robert Joe Rigg, age 74, passed away Friday, August 9, 2013 after a lengthy battle with muscular dystrophy. One of two children, he was born October 9, 1938 in Alva, Oklahoma, the son of Capt. Robert F. (USN) and Sue Maples Rigg who preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife Emma Jane Dorrel Rigg, son Michael (Dana)Rigg, daughters Malia Rigg, Amy (Mark) Conley, Shannon (Daniel) Rossiter, 10 grandchildren, sister Jorja Denton, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob was a graduate of Oklahoma Military Academy. He was retired from the US Army and Reid Memorial Hospital. A disabled American veteran, he served in many positions as a member of the Community Council on Disability Awareness. He was a life member of Optimist Club, serving in both the evening and noon clubs. He was also a long time member of the First Baptist Church. Services for Robert will be on Wednesday, August 14, at 10 a.m. at Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Jim Spon and Phil Hodgkin will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville. Friends may call on Tuesday, August 13, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
