Ronald Van Winkle, age 67, of Richmond died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday (April 4, 2012). He suffered from pulmonary, heart and Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Connersville, Indiana on December 21, 1944 to Stanley and Frances Boone Van Winkle and had lived in this area all of his life. He attended school in Connersville and obtained his GED while serving in the Army during the Viet Nam War. Ron married Janet Wishard in her hometown of Oblong, Illinois on April 8, 1977 and therefore passed away four days before their 35th wedding anniversary. He worked for several years at Glazer Scrap and retired from the Dispatch Department at the Recycling Center in 2010. He had been a ham radio operator and also enjoyed playing solitaire on his computer. Ron is survived by his wife Janet; two special sisters-in-law - Shirley (husband Terry) Seamon of Colliersville, Tennessee, Cindy (companion Joey Straughn) Turner of Cadet, Missouri; a niece - Sabrina Seamon of Knoxville, Tennessee; two nephews - Thomas Turner of Union, Missouri and Jesse Turner currently stationed in Afghanistan. He also has a son, Robert Van Winkle of Connersville, and daughter, Kimberly Trupp of Hamilton, Ohio, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, a brother, James Van Winkle, a sister, Betty Ray, his mother-in-law, Helen Cook, and a brother-in-law, John Cook are also deceased. The family will receive friends on Saturday (April 14, 2012) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. No service is planned.
